MOBQ FAQ

(Gotta Love Acronyms!)

Here’s a place where the voices of visitors past are answered, and will hopefully prevent a few of you from stumbling around in other areas of this site searching for what you’re looking for.  The biggies are in here!

1) Why haven’t you updated your site in ____?

Well, around the time of the last big update, I actually got a real, full-time job.  Yes, it’s true. And so, with that job comes a loss of pretty much all my free time.  This huge update will more than likely be the last one I’ll ever make to the site.  Sad in a way, but people move on to other things...

2) Are you gonna take down this site? don’t!

Just because I have no plans to update it does not mean it will be taken down. Now or in the foreseeable future!  This site has been a pet project of mine for a long time, and I intend to keep it up as long as I can. And, since this domain I’m leeching off won’t be going anywhere, neither will the site. So there.

3) What are the exact parameters for each ending?

I’ve gotten this question a lot over the years, and have finally been able to come through on an answer! There are a total of 13 endings technically, but one of them is a special ending that can only be achieved if you use the “FIRESEAL” name.  So, there are 12 for all intents and purposes. Look at the chart below for the details:

Male
Female
Requirements

World

  • Recruit all of the special characters except for Galf in your party.  Lyon & Deneb are optional characters, have have no bearing for any of the endings.
  • Obtain all 12 of the Zodiac Stones
  • Obtain all 3 Mystic Treasures.  These are the “BRUNHILD” (Brunhild), the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband), and the “GRAIL” (Grail).
  • Your Reputation Meter must be almost full.
  • Emperor

    Empress

  • Your Reputation Meter must be low or completely empty.

  • 4) Do I forgive Deneb or not?

This is possible the most asked question I’ve gotten through the years.  No, it does not.  It turns out that deneb has no influence on any of the 12 endings at all, and neither does Lyon.  So, you can do what you wish with them. if you were sharp, you would have noticed that the above ending cheat sheet mentions this as well...

    5) How the #$&% do I un-equip an item!?!

The SNES version of this game was rather cruel, and had a half-ass method of removing weapons & armor from cahracters. All you have to do is select “EQUIP ITEM,” and then choose a blank space on your item inventory. In effect, you “equip” the blank space, and the old item that was equipped will appear in the open slot that you chose the “equip.” Damn confusing, I know! For more on this, take a gander in the Instruction Book section of this site.

    6) Which character do I have to use to fight the bosses?

There are many instances in the game where if you have a specific special character in your army, he/she may have a special dialouge confrontation with the boss of a given stage. It is generally a good idea to use these characters, you culd wind up with a free item or two on occasion. Almost all of them have no bearing whatsoever in the ending you will get, but it’s still a fun thing to do none the less, and you’ll get some back story to boot!

    Sharom Border:

    Lans

    Sharom District:

    Canopus

    Slums of Zenobia:

    Ashe

    Island Avalon:

    Aisha

    Valley of Kastro:

    Rauny

    City of Malano:

    Tristran or Rauny

    Shangrila:

    Tristran or Rauny

    Kalbian Peninsula:

    Debonair

    Balmorian Ruins:

    Saradin

    Tundra:

    Yushis

    City of Xanadu:

    Rauny

    Zeteginea:

    Opinion Leader or Debonair

    Temple Shalina (Gares):

    Aisha or Debonair

    Temple Shalina (Rashidi):

Opinion Leader, Tristran, Yushis, or Saradin

As you can see, some of these boss confrontations, there is more than one character who wants in on the action.  In these cases, the character who is listed first will have ‘priority,’ and only that particular dialouge will be shown.  If you should happen to lose the battle with that group, the next charcter in line will speak up with their boss dialouge. Another thing of note here is that the character you intend to have a boss dialouge with does not have to be the leader.  This is a Good Thing if you have a Princess as the leader of the unit that you wish to use to challenge the boss.
