M.O.B.Q. Cheat Codes

For those, ahem, lesser players out there, I’ve scrounged up a few cheat codes to help you along.  Each version has its own cheats and such, so here are the sections:

1) In-Game Codes

2) Game Genie Codes

3) Game Shark Codes

In-Game Cheat Codes

There aren’t too many codes that the developers hid in this game as compared to other games. Most RPG's don’t really have all that many cheat codes anyway! For Ogre Battle, all of these codes are enabled by starting a new game and when you are asked for the name of your Opinion Leader, use the corresponding name for the cheat you want. This means, unfortunately, that you can't use these codes with current save games & campaigns. Still, most of them are only cool little Easter eggs, and are tricks that aren't game breaking. Still, they are pretty interesting, and you lose nothing if you just try them out...

Code Name

Effect

FIRESEAL

This code will allow you to play the hidden stage called Dragon’s Haven, also known as Stage Epsilon.  After choosing "FIRESEAL" as your name, you still get to answer the rest of the Tarot Card questions just as if you were starting up a normal game. However, when the game starts, the only stage open to you is Dragon's Haven.  Also, you have a whole heap of characters, all of which are around Level 15.  Depending on how you answered the questions, the various characters will be different. Good responses will yield more Paladins & Monks, where evil answers will give you more Evil Ones & maybe even Mages.  And, once you beat this stage, that's it. Game's done! Try this stage out to see what the buzz is all about. With the help of my stage overview of the stage, of course!  This code works for both the SNES & PSX versions of the game. The one thing that this code is cool for is to try out the higher classes without fear of ruining them in any way. A type of training ground, if you will.

MUSIC/ON

Entering this as your name will give you a music sound test. You can play all of the songs that play as the background music for the various sections of the game. It also provides you the names of each track, which is kinda how I knew what the names where when I made my walkthrough...

SOUND/ON

This is pretty much identical to the previous "MUSIC/ON" code, only you will have access to the sound effects instead of the music tracks.

GOTOHELL

A rather insulting name for a code.  Does it mean that's what will happen to you?  I'm not sure, but this code allows you to play the entire game at frighteningly fast speeds.  I don't know if I can recommend this one, but it is definitely worth the laugh and for the challenge it provides...

“Remote Reset”

This is perhaps my favorite code of all! Instead of having to get off my lazy ass to crawl over and reset the game, using this button combination keeps me as lethargic as can be! All you have to do is hold down "Start" + "Select" + L-Button + R-Button, and the game will reset to the title screen. This works on both the SNES & PSX versions of the game.

Game Genie Codes

There are several documented Game Genie codes. These are all for the SNES version.  So, take a try with these codes.  There are some really crazy and dangerous codes with this thing. Mixing the Game Genie and an RPG is not a combination I like to mess around with, mainly due to the slightly unstable nature of the Game Genie.  I've had one too many Final Fantasy 3 (VI) saves erased as side-effects of a bad GGC. So, use these codes at your own discretion...

Game Shark Codes

All that I have to say is: wow.  This guy, Michael Kang, has single-handedly created a well of knowledge of Game Shark Codes! And, he's letting me put them up here for all to use!  There is so much stuff that he has figured out, that I'm making a sub-page to show it all! So, send out an e-mail to this wonderful guy, and let him know how much these codes have helped you out!
